    Hey,

I'm a new guy looking for a company to start with. I'm looking to relocate to a place where there is a large amount of trucking volume so i could easily find work, but could also return home to this place to visit the family and spend some off time. Where should i relocate to, so I can have access to lots of jobs? Possibly looking to do free lance/contracting work and would like to drive from a to b, and then come home. maybe 600-800 miles?

    thanks.

And where exactly is THIS PLACE? How about just about any major city that has multiple interstates going thru it. If I were in your situation, I'd stay east of the Rockies and stay away from Florida and the Northeast.

Dallas, TX. Find myself going through this fine city at least 4 times a month doing OTR.

    Texas is a good one.
So are states like Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa because lots of freight moves through the MidWest.
If I were you, I'd go down to Texas because the weather is better and there's no state tax.
Living in Ohio will cost you an extra 4% in state taxes per year vs Texas...at $40,000 that's $1,600 more you pay per year for the privilege of living through 6 months of winter! :yes2557:
Of course...there's other things to consider like cost-of-living, family, etc.

Why "live" anywhere? Live out of your truck, use your family's address as your address.

I agree with Dallas. Other than when I worked for Knight, I've never stayed out longer than ten days and that was with Schneider. Freight in and out of here to and from everywhere is plentiful.

Not an option for some of us. I have too much fun at home myself.

If you move to illinois, you have to retest on their CDL. They don't just change it over for the new address.
