I had a guy there tell me the ones they're getting are the "lane departure" type.

They are in our new solo linehaul and new team trucks. It has lane departure that beeps to warn driver. Also has a driver camera that records driver that supposedly they can only view the minutes before and after an 'event '. Has a forward cam also. Also has collision avoidance that slows every time someone cuts you off.I've seen them personally. We havent got one yet but will when they give us a new truck.

They are installing them as we speak in road trucks only. Only outward facing no plans to have a camera on the driver so they say at this point.

About one of the few positives of where I'm at right now is the lack and any talk of cameras being put in. This sounds pretty good for the Old Dominion and even USF prospects if ever get the ball rolling on those again. Talked to the main guy at the Old Dominion terminal in Denver and he wanted me to get back with him on the 3rd to set up a one-on-one.

Of course not. You know union guys won't tolerate that.

Nope, no cameras at OD forward or driver. No plans for them either that I've heard about, but no doubt the corporate suits have at least considered the pro's and cons. They say no personal dash cams, but it's not enforced as far as I've seen.

The trucks do have lane departure warning to annoy drivers in construction zones and rain, but no OnGuard. Everything is subject to change, of course, but I get the impression that since they expect us to behave and work as professionals they treat us as such in return.

Do you know what their thinking is about no personal dash cams?

No concrete evidence when determining fault if there is an incident. Easier to fight it out in (or settle out of) court. Of course you lose proof of innocence too, so it's a double edged sword.
