The tests where they make you pick up some heavy stuff and then check your pulse. They might even have you push and pull to test your strength. I had to do one and was honestly winded. I could have possibly failed but at least im motivated to get in better shape

Schneider made you do one when I went through their training academy in 2013. They even put a pulse oximeter on your finger to check blood-oxygen level.

Any company that makes you do that crap should be avoided at all cost. It has nothing at all to do with the job. Hell, even flatbed doesn’t require that much effort.

Has nothing to do with it. Great Western is one of the larger insurers and they don’t require that crap.

Don’t get me wrong, no one should let themselves go to pot. But, these companies that do all that fitness crap aren’t worth squat.

Too many drivers just don’t get it. YOU are in the driver seat. Piss on these freaking, large outfits that think they get to dictate the terms of your employment. Don’t let them!

Remember this like your life depends on it! The best jobs are not advertised. They are generally small, 50 truck or less outfits where you deal directly with the owner. Seek out those jobs! Your life will be so much better!

All of the companies that I have worked at, that required some form of “fitness” test was for one reason only. If you should get injured, then they are only responsible for returning you to that level of ability, before they terminate you.

This is exactly the reason, along with some small measurement of being capable of handling job duties. Workmans comp and insurance can cost a ton, why pay for an employee to have previous injuries/conditions fixed on your dime.

    Doealex and ibcalm19 Thank this.

My last job sent me on a week long vacation at Club Med with a women 30 years younger than me to test my physical ability.

After the test they informed me that I did not pass but they would allow me to test one more time.

Vic Firth, Doealex, MTN Boomer and 2 others Thank this.
