I, for one, was with them for 1 1/2 years. I really have no bad memories at all. It's trucking, there will be things you won't understand, or like less than you'd want, but overall, they're pretty decent for a big company, and even better than some small ones I've been with.

I never felt like I was mislead, or worse, flat out lied to. Always, and I really mean that, treated very nicely. If I was to come back out, they would be my first choice, unless I was to get on with an O/O. And that is no guarantee either.

I don't know what the starting pay is, so can't help on that. Give them a call, there's no obligation in that. Let everyone know what you find, it could answer others questions.:biggrin_25525:

2001-2006. I'd quit driving before I went back. Corporate decisions made by people that have no idea what a driver deals with do nothing but harm drivers morale, pay, and quality of life. Do your time and get out theres more to life than trucking but don't tell Schneider, they'll drug test you (that will eat up a full day) Watch out for the Orange Bleeders, their a real hoot!

All Schneider wants to do anymore is cut pay while offering sign on bonuses to new hires all the while talking about "freight levels" "quarterly this and that's" and your left wondering why you just worked for 14 days and earned only 1100 bucks. Don't forget about the recruiting bonus, anything helps.

I agree. Anytime I needed extra time off, or had something to do, I was home the day I needed to be. I was always home on the day I requested, and I never felt shorted on my pay. The only reson I left (Today) was because I was in a truck with 942,000 miles and was refused a better one. I would have cared about keeping it, if it didnt go in the shop every week. They swore they couldnt do anything, so I was hired by Us Xpress for a daily local job. Once I told them that, they were telling me that they could get me a batter truck etc etc. I dont jerk people around, so I dont like being jerked around. Dont wait until Im going to leave before you try to help me out. All in all, still a good company.

I don't drive for them either but have a friend that does and he seems happy. He does the I-5 route here in California and seems to be content with his lot. He was an O/O but the truck got old and they wanted him to up grade and he switched to company driver, too much for a new truck.

For an SNI truck, that's getting up there! I do know that SNI is megahiring right now. Could that have something to do with it? I'm not defending anyone, just wondering.

One would think that your DBL could have done something for you. Where did you drive out of? I know at one particular OC, they seem to be less than stellar, but still better than some entire companies out there.:biggrin_25525:

Yeah. I mean, I knew that they kept their trucks longer than most companies, and I dont have a problem driving and old one, but when its in the shop once a week and Im having to bounce from loaner to loaner, I would think that its time to make a change. I was out of the Atlanta OC, The one they bought from swift, and its definitely less than stellar. And I know they could have done something. I started to ask my DBL about a month ago, and reminded him about every 2-3 days that Id appreciate a better truck, but nothing. Only when I told him that I was considering a local job with a different company did he say that he can work something out. And on top of that, a guy I was in orientation with, out of the same OC called me right before he quit to let me know he was turning his truck in because he knew I was trying to get a better one. I was off that day and met up with him at the OC and went to talk to my DBL about sawpping out before he even turned his keys in, and he told me that he cant and that I would have to wait. Thankfully, I drive because I love it, not because I have to. I have a business that earns me enough to pay my bills plus some, so I can afford to be picky. I just felt a bit slighted. I still think its a decent company, but the combination of poor equipment matched with the micromanagement of my DBL just pushed me out. I dont like to help those who arent willing to help me. I felt like he wanted and wanted and wanted favors and extra days, but wasnt willing to help me out until he heard I was about to leave.

Sounds like your DBL was a problem. Ya' there's a few of them. I'm glad you could see beyond him and not condemn everyone. A lot of drivers are guilty of that.

Did they say anything if you came back you'd be reinstated, and be right where you were when you left? SNI does that, that's what they said they'd do for me. And judging by what I saw, I believe it.

I was very lucky. I had 3 different DBL's while I was there. My last one was likely less than half my age, in his early 20's, but he was good as well.

Oh man!! Some of those loaners can be super pig sties. The last one I had, the "Incredible ManPig" had used. Pee bottles, scum on the windows/mirrors, filthy bedding, and a cpap machine with pondscum growing on it were there. This creep was a fifteen year employee with all kind of awards on his grease laden jacket he'd left as well.:biggrin_25510:
