Is it another rip off and financial scheme or is it really helpful?

I know dry van drivers were always falsifying logs to get load delivered. I am guessing there will be big earthquake after elogs become mandatory

Ones who already have it, what is your opinion, is it really working or it is another money trap?

    It costs $300 right?

Been using them for years, both dry and reefer. Unless you need to cheat, there isn't any down side. In fact, logging by minute rather than by the 1/4 hr helps. And, in all the time I have been using them, I have only had 1 DOT officer ask me to page thru my screens to check my logbook...all the rest see the "e-log" sticker on the side of the truck and just wave me on by. I wouldn't have it any other way if it were up to me.

Mine was $60 to set up and $46 a month I think. It's well worth it. I don't have to do any calculations, draw lines, fill out IFTA reports, remember or backtrack my odometer reading when crossing state lines, etc. Pretty convenient all around if you plan on running legal.

What do you mean dry van drivers? When I was a reefer driver, loading iceberg lettuce out of Salinas to deliver in 48 hours in Chicago produce market I was a rebel to put it mildly. Now doing regional with a van, I feel like I am semi retired.

The people that expect the drivers to make up for their mistake or if they don't care how long they hold truck at the dock will pay the price because their loads will have to be rescheduled. They will have to learn to load and unload faster or pay detention or pay more per mile.

I like my elogs never have to worry about simple the simple stuff like adding up your hours or filling in your location. I can even do split sleeper and not worry about messing that up.

My worry is one day, and not too far off, they (DOT) will require us to send data in every month for review.

I opted for Elogs in the truck about 6 years ago when the carrier I am with was doing their company trucks. No intstallation fee, no deposit, and costs me $10 a week. Generally, I like it. There have been maybe a handful of times in 6 years that I was upset at the Elog limitations, but they are so few and far between that it really doesn't grate on me. I like not having to think about logging, keeping paperwork, etc.
