I don't know how the video is going to look but driving in New York operates by different rules...

Sometimes you have to be aggressive in NY

I'll offer one example of aggression. But before I say this, I want to caution that things have improved in that city by and large in someways since the bad old days in the 80's and that no one is ever to do what I did when I got aggressive.

Sometimes you have trouble with directions at night in NYC when there are no signs. You literally needed to count blocks and turn onto the correct streets. As you inch along craning your head everywhere counting, the locals KNOW instantly you might be lost.

here is the scam. They hop onto your fuel tank and say turn here. Here turns out to be a alley trap with no way out and 7 people ready to remove you from that valuable cargo. Life or death for you is up to them. You bellow at them with really bad words and end it with NO.

The problem escalates at that point. In those days there are handrails on the sides of those tractors, So they monkey bar around back to the catwalk with one specific goal in mind. Pull the red glad hand air line. If they pulled it everything is stopped and there you get stormed.

With that said what happens really fast is this. I find a large enough cross route (No truck signs etc be ######.) make a very heavy J turn right about 29 to 31 mph into that intersection. No faster than 31 and no slower than 29 and viciously whip or spin that steering wheel all the way to end of lock to start the process.

That tractor folds into the trailer. The corner of the trailer kicks the bad guy right off the catwalk. you immediately and without fail straighten out with all of your eyes in that right mirrior for that bad guy's body to make sure you do not kill him with those trailer wheels.

Most of the time you see em bounce back up straight like a pogo stick from pain. (Aint body language something...) then they start cursing you, your parents, your entire lineage with ethnically correct verabtage and insults heaped upon anger, pain and rage. You do not hang around. You are gone.

now which street was that. 6th block? 7th? I have 4 more to go before I have to turn... and now here is this nut raging to whole neighborbood block with lights and windows coming up at 2 am in the morning.

Forget it, I'll head out across the GWB again and come back from the Lombardi after sunrise. Company can sue me for being late but everyone will be safe. Im gone.

I suggest you get used to it.
Otherwise you're going to be here again and again and again and again and again for the same avoidable issue.

Part of being professional is your temperament.

Because he’s already on the shoulder he’s 100% at fault .. But I have a question are you pulling a dry van or reefer if so shouldn’t you be one lane over due to height restriction ahead

No kidding lol, forum or in person, you've always got to watch what you say, and who you're saying it to. You never know when there's a rat around, and certainly never say such a thing in the presence of management, or the law. You'd think that would go without saying, but stranger things have happened.

It is inconvenient and frustrating when they try to force their way past you when the lane ends but I would just let the driver in without hitting them. Now your whole week is ruined instead of just a few minutes of frustration. Plus, remember, any time the front of your 80,000 pound commercial vehicle touches another object, they tend to blame the commercial professional driver for that.

Seeing you didn't call a cop, he can claim you hit him and it is considered a preventable by your company and they will put it on your dac report.

one of the things i learnt on the Cross Bronx, or getting out of the toll plaza at the GWB, is HAMMER DOWN.

i never had a problem, you must be going slow or doing the speed limit, not a good idea on that road.

i also see in your pic, it is a 12' 10" over pass ahead.?

    Why no police report?
I understand the GW is slammed.. but take pics of the scene COMPLETELY, including the other driver and his plates, and drive off the bridge to awaiting 5-0.

That's an accident on the highway in a scam insurance society. I'd demand a police presence.
If they won't show bc it's so minor.. take a crap ton of pics for documentation.
Hold traffic up until it's done.

These jokers count on your panic.

One tried this on me in Houston about 10yrs ago.
He bolted when he saw I wouldn't give on it.
Met the local PD and showed them my pics... they ran the plates... STOLEN.

He laughed and said "he wanted cash didnt he?"
Me= "yep... $200 and it goes away"

I said no bc I wasn't at fault.
