As the title says. I always wondered why a long nose aka extended hood Pete is preferred over a short nose.

one thing I can think of is “looks cool”? And another would be the ease of working on it. Is that the reason?

Only benefit I saw was they ride good with the longer wheelbase and the one I drove, forget what engine, ran real good.

Did that high speed driving knock the bumper up like that?

    Asking for a friend.

I’ve heard they ride better. Further the steer axle is up from your seat the smoother. Imagine that vs a cabover. There’s also a small variation in weight distribution between set forward and set back, or I guess shorter wheelbase when you’re talking long vs short hood? Looks is probably the most popular answer!

Is that engine specific? Or Pete specific? Reason is I’m looking for a 00-03 with a s60 and I don’t really care if it’s a long or short but I wanted to know why many preferred a long nose and if it had anything to do with the larger engine space or not. Because I would rather get the short nose if the only thing different is the ride quality.
