Why are we so concerned with fuel prices?

Discussion in 'Ask An Owner Operator' started by blairandgretchen, Mar 6, 2022.

Will increased fuel costs put you out of business?

You might be right, so far Tesla is selling their cars and they are still working on the semi.

    Yes - but why?

Because @Oxbow , @Old Man and others have been in this game long enough to see the ebbs and flows, up and down cycles.

I'm 47 , I look to the guys that have skin in the game for years before I did - for foresight. Amongst other things.

I've only been O/O for 7 years now - but know the cyclical nature of this game, and the steps to prevent failure.

    Advice to younger/newer guys -

Discard the "retired - and laugh at the world crowd" on here -

Engage and listen to the "Still in the game, have been for years, and seen the results" crowd.

    Why?

Because after 7 years owning a truck - 18 years of driving one doesn't make me an expert at business.

I was driving before you were born, thanks for making me feel old.
Look at oilfield job shop on Facebook, lots of jobs , some seem a little low on pay.

Aaah - seeing you're here and not taking your nana nap, as a veteran of the industry, still actively engaged -

Can you offer us any insight here?

And I'm not being an ### here - but I really appreciate those opinions beyond the scope of my own.

    This too shall pass.

Greed drives the oil field,They will all go for the cash, over produce till the price goes down.
In the meantime they will create lots of high paying load’s, some one has to haul, pulling trucks off other jobs and raising their prices.
My plan is to haul some of these stupid high paying loads.
If fuel is $5 at least I have the $5.

the ebb and flow always happens. The old and stale companies will get replaced by newer and more energetic. That’s given in all industries.

example Amazon. It came up when malls became old and stale, it will soon be replaced if it becomes old and stale.

Being able to survive in any industry requires one to always stay fresh and find new ways to produce revenue.

The administration won't open production in the US as that would undermine the all electricity future they want. His first act was to shut down Keystone XL pipeline, hinder fracking, and limit production on Federal lands. There are numerous areas of the country that haven't been explored yet, plus areas that could be increased substantially, if our fellow "Americans" didn't prefer to get energy from wishing and hoping instead.
High prices and limited supplies are a decision, not a fluke of nature. People should make choices like the outcome is important.
