Why are we so concerned with fuel prices?

Yep. Then it's a lot to be desired to fix this mess. I don't have statistics. But your scenarios might make up for the majority, so it seems.
I didn't look at it that way. It's SAD.

Love dogs that eat table food. You eat what we eat.

yes yes there are things dogs don’t eat but there are dogs that don’t care and I ain’t raising a champion show dog anyways.

Adopted from an animal shelter. She doesn't eat dry food, only meat. I feed her raw or cooked meat, occasionally salmon. Then she might get some of our food.
I have to give her meat, so she doesn't hunt small pray outside. She used to swallow stones after we brought her to our house, two surgeries. Thought something is missing in her diet because she was stray. She is well behaved now.
