And those in the governed trucks are doing. 62, 58, 60, 62, 58, 61, 55, 52, 48, Then if were lucky after 8 miles they might make it back to 62 or 63

Yes those who Lolly gag then jump it when your about to pass can be annoying too! But we all know it’s very rare for any one to hold a steady speed if there is a governor and your at it.

By the way your not describing me! I am past you and gone over the horizon, long out of sight and not the one your going to catch doing 60 in a 65 zone!

You didn’t figure the other part of your equation. How about the lost revenue from slowing down. You figured 65 not 75 that’s 100 miles a day you’re losing at $2.00 a mile that’s $1000 a week or $52000 a year you lost

That’s only if it makes sense for someone to drive fast, and you’re assuming that you’d get loaded and unloaded early day after day after day. If someone has a hard appointment on either end or both ends it wouldn’t pay them any more to show up early and sit. Doing what I do I highly doubt I would’ve grossed $50k more last year driving 75 instead of my usual 67-ish.

Well obviously you can figure on paper doesn’t always relate to reality. But there’s more factors involved than saying slow down and you’ll save money you can also lose money. One thing that hasn’t changed in trucking the more loads you can run the more money you can make.ThTs why there always been referred to as runs not strolls or walks

1 company drivers don't care about saving fuel
2 drivers are in rush to drive as many miles bad possible in 11hr limit
3 when you're bored driving thru #### hole states like WY ND SD etc you want to cross them as fast as possible
4 sometimes driving faster means you can escape blizzard and get to better location or home without being stuck at #### hole truck stop for days once they shut down the freeway

I’d rather be passed by another driver going fast than have one riding the back of my trailer or riding along side of me. I’m governed at 68 but usually go 65. If someone wants to go around I’ll back off for a couple seconds. Other drivers can go as fast as they want. I’m not driving their truck and I don’t know their situation.

Ur math is off you wouldn't even be close to that as your not adding the extra 33 gallons it's gonna take.

Your still missing out over 20k at current fuel prices, and that’s using your number, which seems high, not that I’m even turning the key for anything in the $2 a mile range

Your taking numbers way to literally then the point. I don’t know if75 to 65 would save 1 mpg I guess it would depend on the truck and trailer me personally very seldom run over68. The post reminded me of a show I heard with a guy something Rutherford who was actually telling some to run like 58 my time is worth something iMe personally I’m not working for diesel fuel I also understand some are leased to companies where there rates are locked in and the company will throw a couple pennies at them every time fuel go up so they might have to try to make some money of fuel.I don’t do that I’ve ran for 1 direct shipper for over 10 years now I have more flexibility of negotiating with her for more money. My point was slowing down will save some fuel cost naturally but there are other factors involved that might not effect some but could someone else’s revenue or even home time.
