Consider it a compliment to your fine work there. If you were not doing a good job they would say nothing.

As for the part about driving a 13 or 18 speed, if you are good at a 10 speed, you would do fine on a 13 or 18. However, unless you went to work for a company that hauls heavy legal loads or heavy permit loads, those extra gears aren't really necessary. I drive a 13 speed and unless I am pulling a load over 40k lbs, I rarely use the extra gears, even out west.

Hauling heavy loads or oversized loads is like my dream goal probably need like 5 years experience?Another Canadian driver and austinmike Thank this.

Usually you start with legal loads and work your way up. Most places won't just throw the big stuff at you at first. I work for SPD out of Washington state, and for their drivers that are interested in OD loads, they start you out with barely oversize and gradually increase size over time. The only open deck experience I had before working here was hauling glass. Here, I have pulled loads up to 15' wide and 15' tall and have been almost 100' long.Another Canadian driver, bryan21384, Albertaflatbed and 1 other person Thank this.

You can BS them or simply be honest. Tell them what you are looking for.
If your company can provide it then well and good. Otherwise you are looking for something more to your liking and they will have to take the hit on the turnover numbers.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
