Why do bulk haulers think it’s acceptable to clean out wherever?

What it was, Meat & Bone meal.

Looks like soybean meal it gets sticky in warm weather.

Problem is even at washout places they won’t allow you to dump.
Plants won’t allow you in trailer.
what comes out comes out if not you’re stuck with it.

 

You’re close, it’s actually soybeans. I heard the story about why they were dumped there but, it’s been a while and I can’t remember. ‍♂️

 

Usually soybeans aren’t a problem, unless high moisture and trashy, which doesn’t look like it, no stems and trash and such

 

If I had been told to "get rid of it" on that stuff... I would have put 2 or 3 in my ice box. The rest would have been sold for $1 a tub out the back of the trailer at a truck stop or rest area. Somebody missed out on a nice fat bonus.

 

I’ve seen grain haulers ( usually with road salt) pull over onto the shoulder and open a hopper to dump a little off before they got to the weigh station.
Because that extra 500 pounds they dumped off wouldn’t be missed and made them a whopping 5 or 10 dollars more on the load….

 

Aluminum turning are the worst! Especially if they’re super oily those little buggers get everywhere. We did a derailment job one time where like 30 rail cars of plastic pellets ate #### in the middle of some field. They were just loading us up till it was spilling over the side then we’d dump em at the local landfill. Those things were a nightmare. They got wet in the rain and mud and would stick to the wall and up around the piston doghouse and in between the tarp rails. And it was like sweeping rubber bands they were so small the broom would just roll over them. We’d wash out, roll and unroll out tarp and washout again. For weeks they’d be dribbling out everytime the tarp would roll. Lots of concrete plants got a “special blend” of rock and sand those days.

 

No excuse I pulled tankers for years, pnuematic mainly, the crap we used to see would even matter to most loads, like sand, you can load cement on top of a few hundred pounds of sand, but still I would catch drivers dumping on the side of the road, take a picutre send it to the carrier and CHP.

 

Go anywhere in the oilfield where fracking is happening. Sand everywhere. Now that sandbox is the majority up here the sand piles have mostly gone away. This sign is at the TA, Dallas Pike WV.

 

I had a calf sled, yup a sled for pulling around a new born calf.
It worked great when I had to clean out where there was no facilities.
It was the right size to catch whatever I swept out of the hopper. Then I could just tip it into a large garbage bag and dispose of it properly.
