The majority of the drivers in trucks governed 62 etc... are not like this. They don't care if they impede traffic. Majority do not care about anything around them but the steering wheel in front of them. Granted, maybe a lot of the drivers in trucks that are not governed are, mentally, the same. But you don't see them impeding traffic etc...
Personally, I don't care if someone's truck only runs 55 or runs 85. But don't hold that steering wheel and not pay attention or care about what's going on around you.
It is a lot more relaxing to set the cruise on 65 and let the flag sticks roll by. When you're running 70-75, you're constantly passing trucks and it is a lot more of a hassle driving. But to have the option on my speed is a must.
I have to reiterate though.....it doesn't matter how fast someone can run that makes them a good driver...a professional. It's how they act and what their habits are. Stupid comes in all forms and all speeds.
why do drivers stand for governed trucks?

You know, I was afraid that it would become worse. When they came up with speedlimiters in Holland the next step was that trucks weren't allowed to pass anymore. Four wheelers got all upset by trucks passing each other with hardly any difference in speed, it took miles and miles to pass each other (sounds familiar..??)
It wouldn't have surprised me when that would have happened to on the 401 from Montreal to Detroit. But so far so good... Truckers though should be smarter and just let that other truck go by, slow down a bit. Or that truck that's going to pass should be smarter and dont pass...

Hey Jamin. I drive all 48, and can not think of one state that the limit is 75mph. I can think of lots that it is 70. So where are speeding at? 70.
As for why would guys drive governed trucks. There are lots of companies out there that hire rookies. Personally, I don't want to see them trying to handle the rig in high wind at 70, or even Wyoming in the winter time with a truck that goes 70 or above. It is not the trucking companies, that are requiring their trucks to be governed. Let's be honest, most companies would not care how many hours you drive a day or how fast you go, the faster the better, if they were not so heavly regulated, It is the insurance companies, that requires the trucks to be governed, for a Better INSURANCE rate. And not eveyone can afford to go out and buy a truck, pay all the permits and licenses, and insurance, to be as proud as you sound like you are.

My truck is governed at 63 mph. I don't care. I get there when I get there. I am just happy I got a good job. Yeah, our trucks suck, but our carrier takes good care of us.
Scania man Thanks this. -

Thank you, I told you I could not think of any.

Part of UT is 80 even on 15.
Why do I stand for a governed truck? I get everywhere early and I make plenty of money in a governed truck.
