Why do I always worry about radom drug testing

Industry wide protocols should be put in place with a hotline for donors to report lapses in procedures, don't you think?

 

Drugs are not the problem...its the rules regarding them.

 

There are already protocols, it is called the Code of Federal Regulations Part 40

 

There are urine test protocols that are standard across the three authorized labs. There are no uniform standards for hair follicle testing.

Anything, legal or illegal, that renders a person impaired while operating a rig is a problem.

 

You can't blame a effects of substances for morality. The problem begins when a person knowingly and willfully consumes mind altering substances. The test is only for detecting and detering, but rarely is the solution to human behavior. The real problem lies with the person who makes the choice to use or not. Thus, the rules assumes everyone lacks morals. In my opinion, the only time a drug test is needed is after the commission of a crime. When you agree to be drug tested, it is nothing more than giving up you personal liberty to think for yourself. There lies the problem! When an individual is required to be tested before being hired, he or she is subjugated by that force. Can pre hire drug testing stop accidents, How do we quantify the results? The truth be told...tired drivers are equally as dangerous.
