I used to do multi picks in NYC and North Jersey and would camp out at the capri motor lodge on rt 46 in little ferry nj .
the bed buggers stayed there too... had some nice rides !...always fun to bs with and had a cooler full of beer in the trailer while folding blankets.Brettj3876 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I’m about 24k bobtail. Chains and binders ride with the truck -10 of each, 40 gallons water, 300 gallons fuel.
And a partridge in the pear tree.Trucker61016, T.Rucker, God prefers Diesels and 2 others Thank this. -
I just don't understand how they can maneuver that big of a truck and trailer through residential neighborhoods.
More power to them.RubyEagle, Still undecided, 99kw900 and 3 others Thank this. -
That’s not bad, I’m 23,600 with 300 gallons of fuel on board. I just have a lot of gear in the rack.

These are all fair points. Except maybe for the food thing - I have a stock Cascadia with microwave and toaster and fridge, and I spend the same as you or less per month on food. Haven't eaten at a truck stop restaurant for years. Then again, I'm just not a big food person. A couple of sandwiches in the evening after I'm done driving is all I need, just enough to keep the machine running.
I'm not much of a comfort person in general. I spent a couple of years being homeless living in a Toyota Prius, so even the stock Cascadia is forever the height of luxury for me.
And the price is... Shocking. I just bought a HOUSE literally for HALF the price difference of my truck and your truck. And with the other half I could quit trucking for a while and travel the world for like 2 years.
So yeah, I don't get it. But to each their own. Diversity is beautiful.
I think the one thing I am slightly jealous of is the bathroom. But for a quarter million dollars, I'll go number two in the bushes a couple of times a yearLast edited: Feb 4, 2021

I don't even know how you drive those super sleepers in cities and whatnot. Making a turn must be next to impossible.
Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
Hey, don't give me any ***t about my big 32" sleeper. This was my first truck in New Products in 1976.
Jubal Early Times, Gearjammin' Penguin, Dave_in_AZ and 9 others Thank this. -
Sometimes they don’t. Buddy of mine worked for Graebel in Seattle and sometimes they would offload the semi-trailer at their warehouse and deliver to a customers house using straight jobs. Some of those neighborhoods you’d never get into with a big truck.Studebaker Hawk, WildTiger1990, Trucker61016 and 1 other person Thank this.

Big sleepers are because they spend so much time between loads. That big moving truck may have content from several families. Brokers line up several familes roughly going in the same direction. While that is being organized by the broker the driver is waiting..Trucker61016 Thanks this.
