Used is quite different. I have heard cases of adding extended coverage but only before the current coverage expires and by the original purchaser. Keep in mind I dont work sales.....nor do I ever wish to. Lol

Exactly, and we purchased an aftermarket warranty for our T680's that has treated us well so far, definitely pricy just make sure you know what it covers before purchasing as most companies will offer an A or B packagespsauerland and Goodysnap Thank this. -

Paccars have a bad rap because they're the newest product in the industry and new products always suck.
Here's two big reasons:
1 - it took them time to figure out kinks. The original MX engines had some issues, from recalls to supplier availability. The MX13 and MX11 are leaps and bounds better than the MX10, but it took them time to figure out the logistics to get there.
2 - dealership support. Cummins, Detroit, etc - they've been around for a lot longer. They have a lot more techs who can fix your engine. How many MX techs were available day 1? How about month 1? Year 1? It takes time to get people trained, and just "training" them doesn't mean they are experienced. The availability of proper, knowledgeable MX techs has greatly increased over the years, but it takes time.
Look at any new major product release - even if it's good, the subsequent releases are usually better. They've had time to learn from the mistakes of the originals.
In my opinion it's dumb to compare Paccar MX and Cummins - they're not even in the same playing field. Cummins has been in the engine game for a hundred years. Paccar has been in the engine business in North America for 9, DAF has been making engines since the 50's.
Combined, they're still nowhere near Cummins in experience, but honestly they're doing pretty good.Last edited: Jun 11, 2019

Regular aft maintenance, oem only filters stay on top of maintenance and it’ll save you money on the big end.

Currently I drive a 2020 model and my previous one was a 2019. At 366k the ‘19 started over pressurizing the cooling system and blowing coolant out of the overflow and triggering the low coolant shutdown even though the surge tank is completely full. Turned the compressor had a head leak. Later on (as I was told) they had to replace the motor because of a dropped sleeve. Before all that it was using coolant up constantly since it was brand new, later ut was draining air when shut off with no audible leaks and my company’s maintenance dept did nothing about the problem until it finally broke down. Then they put me in this current truck and at about the same mileage it’s acting up again. That generation of Paccar is garbage. I’m not sure what the new one it like, I know Paccar re did some of the design recently.

I had 3 max engines the epa 10 all 3 went over a million miles, no extended idle and do maintenance items when due, like egr, clean, boost sensor, DPF cleaning ect.
Never did do any major repairs to them.
They were not driven like they were stolen and we didn’t care about first to top of the mountain pass. Like any engine you had to learn how to drive them for best performance. I would buy another.
After these engines I went to DD15 in western stars. Had enough of local Paccar dealer.Diesel Dave and bzinger Thank this. -
The way I see it, Anything built using DEF or EGR to substitute each other is going to cause problems. It has to be a sweet middle amount of each, if its DEF and No EGR or More EGR and No DEF then it spells issues. Overworks components and adding one over the other makes a recipe for failure. Ie. Clogged EGR ports and Coolers, or Failing Sensors, DPF, Doser and the rest of the JUNK!

You have to remove the engine from the truck to replace a broken dipstick tube. What do you mean?"why do they get a bad rap?"?
These engineers are Fing retarded. I hope Paccar goes out of business and people quit wasting their money on this ####.
