Truck maxes out at 63. I roll at 60 or the speed limit, whichever is slower.

Been working for 30+ years, been driving for close to 20. I'm tired, I'm cranky, and I don't give a rat's tail end anymore, I ain't hurrying for nobody. Appointment times can be changed with a phone call or a click of a mouse button these days.

Sometimes, speed limits are set unreasonably low - like everywhere in California, for example.

This is going to sound rude and it is not meant to be-- but who are you to qualify the California speed limit as 'unreasonable'?

Well it is unreasonable, uniform truck speed throughout the whole state is 55 mph, that's fine in downtown LA, but east of Barstow its just plain stupid

Look at it this way. For every failure at human user interface, there has been an electronic solution.

Drivers couldn't accurately record their record of duty status, so they came up with electronic logs.

Drivers couldn't figure out how to keep their combined weights within legal limits so they created Weigh Stations.

Drivers couldn't be counted on to ensure their tires, lights and brakes were road legal 100% of the time so they set up inspection bays within those weigh stations.

Drivers couldn't keep their speed within the legal limits so some companies integrated speed limiters in their trucks.

Still, drivers cannot keep their speed under the legal limits, I say let's come up with an electronic solution, say a chip installed in all the speed limit signs that communicates with your truck as you drive by and electronically locks your max speed to that sign no matter what.

Trust me , this is going to happen if you don't voluntarily knock it off with the excessive speed. You will have done this to yourselves, no one else to blame....

On a related note, what's with the posted 45mph limit on the I20 in west Alabama. Did anyone get popped for speeding thru there?
