Ok just would like to throw this out to all drivers and see what responds we get! In my fleet 24 my FM sends out about 3-4 messages a week letting our fleet know about how many accidents there were the day before or for the weekend but none in our fleet, this is fleet wide! And belive me there is like a lot of them they could be anything from hitting something to the extreme i guess! But guess it is mostly just hitting things that could of been avoided by not getting in a hurry to should of got out and looked! Just want to hear some feed back from other divers on this!
Hope everyone had a safe weekend I am on home time back out tomorrow
Why so many accidents every week?

This is one of many reasons why the strict laws and of course revenue. My company does the same thing only they give the trk number. Not just accidents but tickets or anything the dot gave them a violation for.Only time companies notice you is when something bad happens.Never hear of anything good.
Truckinchic, mje, kerosene jockey and 1 other person Thank this. -
so we do some Good pattyj? your right never hear good thing's,i think it has a lot to do with inexperienced and the feeling of being rushed with a mix of lack of attention by drivers.
mje Thanks this. -
Seems like out of every 3 vehicles you see pass by at least one is either on the phone or looking at it. Haven't been driving a big rig yet but still spend alot of time driving to and from jobs. Roadway driving has definetly changed, just the other day passed by a Fedex truck and the driver was holding a phone just above the steering wheel and was fixated on it. The odds have definetly changed. Has anyone got a kickback from their insurance for being accident or ticket free. Kinda like the new Allstate insurance commercial. "Silence".

When I drove for Werner they would send out a safety message every day. One day they sent out a message that said they were very pleased to say they had no serious accidents the night before. Lets just say I was shocked to find out they had serious accidents almost every day.

Just about two months ago along I-79 in northern WV a driver was southbound weaving back and forth as he passed in the hammer lane. When he got about five truck lengths ahead he made an abrupt turn to get back in the right lane, over-corrected and over he went, rolled right off the shoulder and down in a ditch. Trailer looked like a bomb imploded inside. One of the women who stopped ran up to the first LEO on the scene shouting how he cut her off and was on his cell phone. These drivers are every bit as dangerous as those under the influence and it is against the law to hold the cell phone and use it while driving. The penalties for this are no doubt going to increase as the number of accidents increase. A zero-tolerance law should be enacted for cell phones with the sole exception of hand-free devices.Last edited: Mar 10, 2013

Yes there is alot of distractions and i have seen alot of the cell phone and texting going on from drivers I am not talking about 4 wheelers big trucks! Is there not a law that we as CDL drivers can not be on a phone but see it everyday! Now I am not saying that these accidents by usa were caused by that but come on guys common sense tells us to take it easy be safe if you think your gonna hit something get out and look whats so freaking hard about that?
I was proud just last week I had a level one DOT inspection on US 51 in KY and passed the lady officer was pleased with me that everything was in order she said that i must take pride in my job and equipment meaning she as seen alot of or trucks and drivers where there were many violations! Yes I do take pride in my job I do care about my truck and trailer and USA Truck!Truckinchic and Thomas0810 Thank this.
