I don't hate them but here's why they will NEVER get my money. When DENNY'S took over the restaurant at the Pilot in Rice Hill, Or. (I5 xit 148) extensive remodeling was needed. This area (Douglas County) had at that time around 19% unemployment. So here comes a contractor from out of state employing people who spoke 0 english to do DIY quality work.
Maybe the nonenglish speaking people will keep them open because this white boy won't.:Screwdriver:

I have heard of other places in either CA or WA that had high unemployment and the job wasn't even posted in that state. They brought in poeple from other states to work. I think it should be manadatory to post it in your own state first and if it is a union job, surely they have local unions to pull from:biggrin_25524:

Let's see, a corporation from Tennessee, hires a contractor from another state, to do work in a different state. Sounds All-American to me! What's the gripe?

Unions in Douglas County, Oregon? You are joking! There are three things to do in Douglas County, none of them union, cut logs, cut logs into 2X4s, watch other people cut logs and cut them into 2X4s, while you draw unemployment.

I don't mind Denny's. It's just that most of us get tired of seeing the same old stuff in every truck stop. It kind of ruins the whole experience for me when I start at one truck stop, drive 600 miles and end up at the exact same truck stop. Even the mom and pop places are emulating the chains now.

One thing that bothers me about Denny's is those darn skillets. They are so hot they actually burn the food while I'm sitting there waiting for it to cool down.
