Why would you buy a kenworth over a freightliner?

I ran a 4 axle W9 years ago, with the earlier studio sleeper.
Decent riding truck, parts are expensive, dealers are part time compared to F/liner. Saying they are worth more used is a misnomer. They cost more when new, so why not cost more used? Buy expensive, sell expensive. Buy cheap, sell cheap. Same in any industry for the most part. My current rig was $94k brand new inc FET. A comparable KW was $110k, and Pete was a little more than that IIRC. So it makes perfect sense for them to be worth more used in my opinion. Not that it means anything, as the KW buyer spent an extra $16k, plus the associated interest, when he bought it didn't he?
I sold the W9 and went to Freightliner for numerous reasons listed below. Now consider I am originally from England, thus hold no love/hate for any make in particular. Nor am I one for buying a "name", a "hood" or anything like that. The truck is a tool to me, not an extension of my pecker...
More interior room and cubby holes than any KW or Pete.
Dealers are open longer hours, and lots more of them.
Parts and labor prices are way cheaper.
Lightweight and easy to work on DIY in my experience.
Used parts readily available for the times when one will do just fine.
My last F/liner (00 Century) rode very well, about comparable to the W9.
The current one (06 Columbia) rides better, probably due to the air ride front end and being years newer.
Consider all my rigs are O/O spec'd etc, so no cheap interiors and so on.
All in all, I consider the Freightliners the money making machine out here due to the above reasons.
The company I am leased to runs nothing but KW's, and they have had their fair share of problems over the years, so they are FAR from trouble free. The interiors have also suffered in recent years, quality wise.
Not interested, and wont reply to, any P'ing contests, as I really dont care. The F/liners work for me, literally! And that is the point IMHO.
get what is going to make you the most money, and leave the chrome etc for other folks.
One last thing though, maybe most of the show trucks are Pete's and KW's, due to the simple fact that the F/liners etc are running down the road earning $$$$$:biggrin_25522:
Buy what you want, as it's a loaded question with no "right"answer in my experience.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Chrysler did not buy Freightliner.DaimlerBenz the company that owns Freightliner bought Chrysler about 5 or 6 years ago but end up selling it again because they were losing to mucn money.

patrick thats my point every make has fleet trucks and o/o spec trucks and either can do just as good of a job as the other. yes kenworth are alittle over priced just like petes. just like harleys. your buying a label. to some its worth it some its not. but what matters is what you like. like me i prefer my classics over a w900. why is simple. I like the condo and being able to stand up in the front, i like not having the step in the middle and i like the storage of the condo. it works for how i like my inside setup. now i do like how the kenworths have the cap which makes it very usable for many apps. you could go from running vans or referrs to pulling a flat bed and able to drop the cap and reduce wind drag and match height up alittle better. but the point is if your buying a truck buy it because its what you like not because he said this is a cheap truck or this is an over priced truck...i am sorry i snapped out, i just hate when people try the everything else but what i drive is cheap. like what you buy or dont buy it. its your money and YOU have to live with it.

I would pick a freightliner with a 515 over a KW with a 425. 8 bag suspension option in a KW is a smoother ride. but so is dual air cab suspension on 24.5" with a 72" sleeper. In my opinion a W900L is the nocest looking truck on the road. But my pockets dont run that deep. If you take the time to research available options from each manufacturer (not a salesman as they try to sell for their gain) 9 times out of 10 the Freightliner would come out on top ( if price was the deciding factor). For the record i own and operate a 2010 fld120064sd. Love it.

Having both trucks a 03 w900L and a 05 freightliner cassic xl midroof I love the kw way better. The freightliner has a smoother riding frontend think it has to do with the leaf and ahalf spring. Freightliner wiring sucks everything yellow and numbered kw not its color coded and kw runs fuses for everything whereas freightliner dosent i.e. kw uses four fuses just for the headlights frieghtliner one for everything so hmm wonder if its a bad wire by taillight or if its bad wire up front who knows on a frieghtliner. Kw is easy everything on seperate switches. Freightliner is like a geo everyones had one and moved on to better rides. "KENWORTH THE WORLDS BEST"
