Excellent idea...before my MIL moved in, we use to take a couple days and head to St. Augustine, FL and play tourist.

From reading your posts I would think he should be a pretty happy guy. Maybe just give him a call once in a while to see how his day is going? Maybe make a few home cooked meals that he can take out on the road, perhaps a little note telling him how you feel put into his bag.

Supersnackbar, Thank you, those are encouraging words. I never have honey do's, and if there's ever problem's with the kids, I can't handle myself, we take care of it immediately over speaker phone together. You are right some people have it worse. Military people overseas don't always have the luxury of talking together whenever the need arises. I am a pretty experienced trucker wife. I've figured out all the obvious pretty quickly throughout our journey. I have to be honest I don't take any me time but just to see him happy would be all I need to be satisfied. That's kind of what I live for is my family to be happy. So if I can make everyone happy then take a quick nap then
    I'm happy.

Aw... your message brings tears to my eyes. That sounds a lot like me and my husband. I do try to add in the little I miss yous and such. I think we are just feeling this way because we have been a little more focused on kids an money because of the holidays. Hopefully this too shall pass.

That's another thing she does...every once in a while she talks me into taking a 30 minute nap with her...just her and I...and her dog...

Plus, there is nothing wrong with a honey-do list. In fact I need my honey-do list. It give me a sense of having some sort of a normal life once I get home. I more or less took it upon myself (with a little help here and there from my wife and grown children)to build a 20' x 24' addition to my home so we had room for my mother-in-law's stuff when she moved in...and I am away from home an average of 300 days a year, but it honestly gives me a sense of being needed for something more than a paycheck...it keeps the dream alive of one day not having to spend my life away from home...that some day I will wake up in my own bed more days than I wake up in this truck...

Hey I did not mean there shouldn't be ANY "honey do list." All I was saying was don't "load him down too much. I apologize if anybody thought I meant he shouldn't have to do ANYTHING when he is home.

and sometimes something that can be done together...like raking leaves or planting flowers...my list is more of a mix between a to-do list and a bucket list at this point though.

I'll tell you what my wife does, from time to time, she will send me a text while I'm sleeping, so when I get up I can see the msg, no! Not a pornographic picture LOL, just a few words to let me know how much she appreciates what I do
