    Hi,
New to trucking. New CDL with tanker and hazmat have offers from Wiley and from U.S. Express. Am 62 years old, been looking for work for over a year. Going from a former G E Consultant to truck driving.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

If you have house payments, family you want to see, bills of any kind then go read about both of these companies in the "bad trucking companies" thread! Use the SEARCH function (located about 2" below the top of the page on the right side of the menu bar. Or you can also check on the ripoffreport.com
This is NOT the time to be trying to get into trucking as most of the "biggies" are becoming bottom feeders and are just using drivers spelled newbies to fill seats while the truck sits waiting for a load!

I spoke to a US Express recruiter on the phone today. They promise a lot but we all know its mostly garbage. They're suppose to fax me an app tomorrow and hopefully hire me. I haven't spoke to a Wiley Sanders recruiter. Have you spoke to US Express, i'm curious as if our what they told us was the same.

US Express did away with vacation pay. They are a team oriented company that only hires solos in order to get them to team or lease. About as bottom of the barrel as you can go but any large company nowadays is quickly sinking to the bottom in terms of appreciation for the drivers efforts. As for Wily Sanders, I see tons of yards full of Sanders trailers all over the Southeast which means they have a lot of drop and hook. Wily also owns an automotive battery recycling company, which means a lot of freight back to Alabama. I'd work there before even looking at US Express, but that's just me.

Thanks for all the information. I did speak with both. U.S. Express made me sign an agreement to drive team for six months after training before they would allow me to come to orientation.

I also spoke with Wiley and have decided to go with them. Will be starting orientation on Nov 29.

This is a great forum. Lots of good advice and information. Appreciate all the information and help from the pros.

There was a couple that graduated ahead of me from my school. They are members of this board. They went with US Express. I wish I had got their cell number.

My fiance and I are contemplating team. I have to see how things work as a solo first. I did apply at US also.
