Born and raised in the Badger, with a baseball team called the "Brewers" from "Beer City",, what do you expect? Wisconsin for years, many years, has had the distinction of being #1 in drunk driving. Driving while intoxicated was just a way of life for many, and amazingly, with all the bars, LaCrosse has the most, remember "####"? Drunks Against Mad Mothers? Conjured up in a bar in Wis, no doubt, but most all make it home. Generally, the "professionals" know their limit, don't have far to go, and drive accordingly. Defending drunk drivers, as you can imagine, is big business. In 2022, there were over 23,0000 drunk driving arrests, that leads the nation,,,again. A man from Green Bay has the most drunk driving arrests with 18 OWIs. As a truck driver, and generally working at closing time, one had to be aware of that fact, and usually, by 3am, it was clear sailing again. I don't recall many crashes, except maybe a missed turn. To put things in perspective, drunk driving crashes are actually down, being replaced by 10,294 crashes in the same time period for distracted driving. You can't win, I guess.
Oh, 1 more thing, I'm by no means justifying drunk driving, but I do want to say, spending a lot of time up north, the tavern wasn't this place to get blasted. It was more of a social place, good food, a TV, good friends, a warm place on a cold day, a telephone to get help, most of that is gone now, but I think contributed very little to the drunk driving thing.

I figured Florida, or maybe California, would have that dubious distinction.

Think it said Gillette was the highest.

I would’ve expected Evanston,Caspar,Rock Springs or Green River to pop up on the list.

I figured it would be around Jackson-Cody Wyoming that would be the worst for dui’s, with all the tourists there.
