Dude, when starting out with most mega carriers like crengland, swift, prime, covenant ets... ets.. Most will put you OTR with trainers and try to keep you out for a couple months before you get home. Take the week or two off, and enjoy your freedom while you have it. It will probably, probably be a very long time before you get home again and it will likely only be for a day or two at best for the next year or so of your career unless you get very lucky. Taking a week off is a very wise thing to do.

I took about a month and a half off after school before going to orientation. But it was the earliest date I could get to orientation since we were having problems with paperwork. Was nice though.

Just do your time and then get regional Monday through Friday job. OTR is an acquired taste. One that I lost long ago.

Take the week off and enjoy your time.

I took three weeks off after getting my CDL before starting orientation. It gave me time to spend with my family and to make sure all my ducks were in a row such as bills paid and all before going.
