Please always keep in mind that one who is not actively looking for work is not considered unemployed. We also need to take a look at the labor force participation rate, which has certainly improved, but is still "bad."

Planes have autopilots that do most of the flying and even the landing on the big jumbo jets. They still have pilots in the ####pit. I believe that we will see more and more autonomous truck driving features added to trucks. Things like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
Not all new features will be opposed by the drivers. Some will benefit the driver. Just as pilots are kept on planes to handle unexpected issues, I believe there will be drivers in trucks. But imagine if automatic parking was perfected. Ever see one of those self parking cars parallel park? We are a long way from seeing that in trucks. -
A close call in aviation is when 2 planes come within a few thousand feet of one another. HUGE margins. How close do cars and trucks get when driving? Couple of feet?
