The self driving truck just seems like a trend to me personally, those with their fingers in the cookie jar are probably making good money from investors . When it becomes too expensive to make it a reality the "dream" will be dropped and they'll move on to making humanless cops or something stupid.

Let's be realistic guys how much do you think an autonomous truck would actually cost? $1000000 even if it was $1 they would sell the computer updates for Millions...to operate the truck would surely cost of upwards of 38 to 60 cents per mile (driver pay) autonomous trucks are simply just Mega carriers ploy to keep a driver in fear and not realizing how powerful of position we are in..just sayin

If I paid 500,000 dollars for a robot tractor running enough to save me oh... 100,000 in costs per year paying a driver... where i can have a minimum wage chump to dock it on the end of that run...

The robot will break even in 5 years. The revenue will overflow my company bank account.

Thats the hope and dream anyhow. Eliminating the big cost of a human holding the steering wheel 3000 miles a week.

As well as the whining, complaining, politics and all the other wasteful motion of people.

The Japanese put humans in Bakas during WW2 to go guide them into the Navy Warship. 70 years later our enemies are more than capable of killing 6000 and our carrier with a few long marches coming in forming their own plasma protection through which we are unable to defend against at this time. (We are working on it...)

Good luck finding anyone to insure a robot truck....first minor accident the victim would sue company, manufacturers of truck and software. Any politician who pushed this baloney into legislation would be politically ruined.

Oh yeah that same minimum wage chump would also need to pretrip/post trip any time the truck stopped. Personal opinion if a 21 year old got their CDL today they'd have a driving job bout as long as they liked, including retirement.

    that's not how logic works

lawmakers in florida have literally already passed laws allow driverless vehicles including trucks and they are on the roads there

politicians do stupid stuff all the time and get away with it
