Hey, welcome, Mr. Thread Archeologist; I see you dug up a good but long-dead thread here!

Now, Fontana, CA, W. Memphis , AR and Birmingham, AL are all pretty crappy places, and so are the truckstops you find there, but the T/A in Gary, man, that place is SPECIAL! It would've easily been near the top of this list back in 1987, when I first graced the already-filthy floors of this establishment, and it was almost NEW back then! I shudder to think what it must be like today..

You know, I remember when that Petro in W. Memphis first opened, and it was actually kinda nice! Actually used to take time out from driving there for a quick meal anytime I went past there. Never did an overnight there; we had a terminal on the south end of Memphis just across the MS line...

Finding out that Petro in Jackson MS is pretty nasty. I guess when you have to have full time policemen to sit in the yard all the time, not a good sign. Super limited in what they sell and not good choices. Coolers are pretty empty except energy drinks. Choices of snacks are super limited. Shower was nasty with clumps of hair stuck to walls, floor, and soap shelf in shower. Icky for sure.

Who said it wasn’t still relevant, especially if it still shows up in search engines?

Here's on I happen to be at. Van horn tx pilot. Last time I was here must have been a year ago. It's been under deconstruction since and still. You have to follow construction fence all the way around to the front, to get in. Restrooms are 2 porta johns up front. Limited stuff inside I know it'll get finished and be better, but who doing the work, road construction crews? Because it's forever work.

There’s the Pilot in Dallas off of I-20 that seems to survive everything thrown at it.

I parked in the loves there a couple nights ago. I did notice there’s a new “one 9” stop there too.

After my last attempt at scaling out there I decided never again. Used to be a more decent area.

I’ve been hearing about frequent truck break in at the TA in that area.
