Afternoon folks, considering getting my class A, but hesitant to waste my time.

I have a couple of minor accidents from about a year and a half ago that are both at fault, both involving a screaming girlfriend distracting me, that do not show up on my MVR.

One, I rear ended someone at low speed. No record of that. I WAS ticketed for improper backing with one of the collisions and ONLY the citation shows up on my mvr. I also have a couple of speeding tickets from around the same time that do show up, for 10 and 15 over which hits my license for a total 5 points.

Learned my lesson and got rid of the stressors in life and quit speeding.

The state of North Carolina which I reside in offers a voluntary point removal clinic which will remove 3 of those points from my license.

Will I be able to get hired anywhere with this kind of record after I remove those points? Maybe on the oil fields?

    Appreciate yall.

You'll have to attend a cdl school first.
The state probably pay for it through the WIOA Program.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Unified State ...
    ~
North Carolina Goodwill also might pay for it.
    CDL/Professional Truck Driver Training - Goodwill ...
    ~
After cdl school, some 2nd chance companies will hire you.
    ~
    Home - Western Express
    ~
Merrell Transport LLC USDOT 2266737 - Tulsa, Oklahoma ...
    ~
Can also find a job on Facebook in the trucking groups.
Craigslist also has jobs in trucking for drivers that need a 2nd chance.

Thanks for the detailed response, much appreciated. I don't mind working at a second chance of course because I'd rather have that experience when my crap falls off my license in a couple years.

I forgot to mention that my license was suspended after the 15 mph speeding ticket because I moved and couldn't show up to the mandatory court appearance.

The 15 mph is for 3 points, so I'm assuming that's what they'll take off, but I'm not sure if the suspension will get taken off, or how that will affect my hiring possibilities as well.

Would I have a good chance at getting into an oil patch as a noob?

And should I keep this information to myself seeing as it doesn't show up on my record?

The 15 over *might* be problematic. You couldn’t work for the outfit I drive for because the insurance company wouldn’t approve you.

The license suspension will be a problem.
Many companies are forgiving if the license suspension is for letting car insurance expire or failure to pay child support.
    Get your cdl first though.

One Stop and WIOA are the only ones I know about.
How long before your hand heals?
Do you want to have a trucking career?
Where are you in Northern California?
