Hello everyone, quick synopsis about what I'm looking for:
Been driving a long time, own a California legal T 660 with 144 inch sleeper, recently sold my trailer
(2017 SD) As an O/O I haul commercial air conditioners, aerospace parts, plastic OS fuel tanks..etc. Lightweight stuff that pays VERY well.
I currently make over 100K home every night as a company driver. If I wanted to "come back out".. my bills are pretty low: just over 3k a month, which includes my mortgage payment each month.
I realize I'd have to purchase another 48X102 SD and I'm okay with that. Guess what I'm looking for is input about rates and the general "feeling out there"- are successful O/O's generally happy and glad they are running their favorite lanes..or...is everyone pissed off and can't believe they are suffering from a low quality of life?

    Thanks in advance...

My opinion is that rates have been as good as great over the last 18 months. For the last 2 or 3 months they have been dropping like a stone. I hoping things pick up after the elections?

I think everyone is holding there breath?

Finding a trailer might be a problem? New truck orders are backed up a year right now. Guessing trailers are the same way?

    I run spot market flatbed.

Thanks Tug Toy, Trailers are plentiful, I've even found 2020 models on some dealerships lots. Lots of 2018 and 2019 model trailers. When you say "dropping like a stone" do you mean they are going back down to 2017 levels?

My yearly ALL miles average January to August was $3.06 mile. Since then I have lost almost .16 on my yearly total. Last complete month was only $2.57all miles or exactly what my yearly total was for 2017 I think?

Now take into account fuel has gone up almost .09 per mile over 2017 and that tells me we are CURRENTLY running .10 per mile under 2017 rates.

But it’s all just a wild ### guess.

Don’t quit your day job if you make over 100k and are home every night. We are to spring 2017 levels and may hit 2016 levels in the near future.

My situation reflects @Tug Toy ’s almost identically -
though off for the last months, I’m looking at lack luster (though it is legal) rates this first week back.

About $3.15/mile Jan - Sep, and trying to improve on $2.50 right now.

Hearing the same on new equipment.

I run a stretch FB, leased to LS, own truck/trailer.

    whoopNride and Robert85006 Thank this.

Bloody nice rig, if that’s yours in the avatar. I’m slumming it in an elderly ‘95 Pete with 120” ICT.

Thanks, that's my "old" Girl: 2008 T660 with integrated 144 sleeper. 1.2m on the clock and she gets 7.75 mpg all day!. Took a lot of blood sweat and tears to get her nearly 100% paid off!

Very nice. Debt free brings a lot of options. Congratulations.

I’d like a newer sleeper slapped on these bones, but patience prevails.

I’m confused though - you mentioned ‘company driver ‘ ??
