You can look at Bennett and any of the other large agent o/o companies. You will have to basically be setup as an agent and a carrier. This also gives you the added benefits of being able to make money by brokering the excess freight. Long run it’s probably more lucrative on your own, but it’s much more out of pocket.

Why not keep the authority and be a broker on the side as well then?

Or if he really does have good customers how about getting other trucks to lease under him and take a percentage from those trucks.

There is a lot more to it. You have to have a bond to broker freight, also there is back office expense, there is compliance and vetting customer and carriers, collections, as well as the insurance cost for a new carrier. The list is long as to way partnering with some one may be a viable option. If he’s one guy trying to do it all it can get overwhelming and he may not be in the position professionally and financially where he can justify hiring office staff for all this.

So is he. He doesn't and never has driven here. So how would he possibly know.

You're probably in an outstanding spot for that from the trucks I see in the area.

Some guys in your niche say no.

I just do dry van, been here 6 years.

The only way you'll truly know accurate numbers is to run it up the flagpole. Get some numbers from LS.

It's a very lengthy on boarding process.

Take one, two, twenty of their webinars where you can see the actual board in real time. And have them do searches for you.

It's a very take no prisoners place. I was like a kid in a candy store when I got access to the load board.
The people that have difficulty tying their own shoes tend to struggle a bit.

Most carriers to lease onto advertise their percentage.

You're gonna pay anywhere from 10-30% of revenue when you lease on.

Some when giving up a higher percentage give u a trailer to use as cover insurance.
Lower percentage you don't get much.

Just FYI, when I was there, I had a few agents complain that LS was sending other agents in to service another agents customers. Agents get like %7....

SO some of the cut/paste agencies were posting freight from another agents "customer"

CALL landstar and talk to them, then ask for phone numbers of some BCOs to talk to.
