1.31 a mile to pull dry van this includes fsc. All miles paid. .15 cpm maint escrow truck payment is 495 a week it is a 2015 cascadia evo dd15 10 speed eaton. I'm so conflicted because i want to try it, but i can't afford not to have a pay check either the numbers i ran said i would be making about 4-500 a week more than as a company driver. What do you guys think? Thanks to those with helpful insight.

$1.31 including fsc is robbery and you should laugh at them with droplets of spittle erupting from your mouth sprinkling their faces.
@ $2.60 gal avg. IF you're lucky enough to avg 7mpg that's almost .40cpm fuel cost not counting DEF and wear and tear.. insurance.. tractor maintenance.. savings for WHAT IFS.. and most importantly PAYING YOURSELF a wage more that .45cpm than you can get if you have a decent driving record as a company Driver.
Let's not forget taxes.
My suggestion? counter at $1.50 plus fsc.. they'll say no.. but let some other sucker drive for .15cpm after expenses.

Flyingdutchman, yes I would do this in a heartbeat and have been looking high and low for this type of deal. I'm not saying things definitely will go perfectly but I have done this type of lease successfully before (means very little home time) and made money as you said 4-500 more per week than company driver. I welcome you to PM me with details and would like to chat with you in case any other costs / details missing. Maintenance costs are the huge unknown but 2015 evolution should do well. What company is it?

I wouldn't if I were you. $.15 doesn't go very far. Oil change cost alone would take 20k miles...tires would take running 200k. $4-500 a week should be what you're setting aside for major repairs (engine work alone on these new epa approved engines costs a bundle for them to do even minor repairs let alone anything major like an in-frame rebuild). Not sure who you work for, but as a company driver at most companies, if your company truck breaks down, you either make breakdown pay or have the option of using a spare truck. If you are buying a truck, you get zippo plus the payments don't stop because the truck did. I know it sounds like a lot more money, but take it from someone who owned his own...you would end up taking home more at the end of the year as a company driver at those rates.
Highway_Executive and jammer910Z Thank this. -
By your own admission you state that you cannot afford to miss a paycheck. That is the ultimate "redflag"! You have to have financial resources that you can count on in the case of a breakdown, extended illness, accident or just being stuck on a lousy load that does not have an appontment date until the following week!
Your truck payment, fuel cost and maintenance fund alone, will be $1,900.00 per week! Thats configured on running 2500 miles per week @ 1.31 cents per mile? $3,275.00 gross! Do the math!!Highway_Executive Thanks this. -
