Looks to be a trailer tire, if noted at pre-trip I would have it replaced before running. If not noted at pre-trip, I wouldn't continue, but there will be some splainin' to do.
Would you drive on this tire? (picture)

Just some backstory… A coworker sent me this picture. She was wondering if I would drive on that tire. I said no. It was a drop trailer. She delivered the load (600 miles) and returned empty to the yard. The ‘yard guy’ said there was nothing wrong with that tire! But he is a complete bonehead…
Rideandrepair, runningman0661 and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
Myself I’d get it replaced however it appears to be old damage that’s been neglected so it most likely won’t fail soon other than a inspection
Rideandrepair, W923, MartinFromBC and 3 others Thank this. -
If a steer, no way. If on a light loaded trailer, just long enough to get to the yard, or drop lot etc., then definitely ‘red tag’ the unit.
Rideandrepair and 48Packard Thank this. -
I looked at the pic and was like "sure!" then I scrolled down and saw the second set of gashes, changing my tune to "only to the next tire shop!"
Rideandrepair, Accidental Trucker, lester and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yeah, especially if it’s on a trailer you’re going to drop like you picked it up that way, just note “Tire wear/small gash.

I post that same video a while back. People were all like "oh no, that's outdated".. lol
As if the physics have changed..
Have & will continue to put it the wood if & when another steer lets go..Rideandrepair, cke, D.Tibbitt and 5 others Thank this. -
They say, “You mean a service truck?”
And you say, “Nope, half the hood is gone, brake chamber, slack adjuster, brake line, and that airbag on the steer, plus I don’t know wtf happened to headlight assembly.”
Then they send a wrecker.Rideandrepair, W923, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this. -
No way!!!
The person who is responsible for the safety of your rig is YOU. If that blows out and causes an accident, death, or damage to vehicles, YOU are responsible. When a DOT officer gigs you for that, YOU are responsible. And, your CSA takes the hit. Don’t take that chance. Get it replaced, ASAP.Rideandrepair, runningman0661 and ncmickey Thank this. -
They don’t care about safety, it’s all about the benjamin’s.Rideandrepair, W923, snowlauncher and 1 other person Thank this.
