    Sure you could have drove to the next stop, but would you have found a place to park or would you have had to try and push a little further to find a safe place to park.

    Personally, I don't see one dang thing wrong with what you did. You stopped when you felt you needed to sleep. I say, throw that receipt away from the TS so you don't have any proof of being there and have at it.

    I am curious about you die hard elog pushers. Do you guys ever push past the posted speed limits? If you are pushing even 5 mph over the limit then you are no better then the guy that fudges a little on his log book.

    Probably said already.... but didnt read all posts....they WILL be in all trucks eventually....we ran em back in 09....makes doin logs a whole lot easier....AND it makes the companies that wanna make u run illegal not be able to.....the old days are gone folks...like it or not...

    There's a difference between what he did and the guy running two log books so he can drive 22 hours in one shot with no rest.

    Are both of them lying? Yes.

    Are both of them risking their driving records. Yes.

    Are both of them putting their lives and the lives of others at risk? NO.

    Our friend here got the rest he needed, he just logged it "differently", whereas Mr. Doublebooker is a ticking timebomb.

    There's a difference between these two "outlaw" drivers.

    Oh we are aware. I've been hearing that for about 5 years now and for five years I've been logging on paper. It's amazing and it seems like many people liken paper logs to child porn.

    What company???if its major size they are probably a 65mph so what is the difference,,if so then by going back to paper now they risk drivers running Non Compliant by DOT,(if they cant seem to get drivers there ontime)
    A speeding ticket doesnt place your truck OOS,falsifying your logs does and thus load is either late and or not picked up

    I don't remember which company that he was talking with about it. Believe it or not. My friend has no reason to lie to me about it. I have heard similar stories about others who have been having problems taking care of business who are using elogs. I have heard similar stories about those using elogs. This is the only one that I heard that was thinking about taking the EOBR's out of their trucks.

    Alot easier to get caught speeding then it is being able to "fix" the log. More drivers getting caught speeding than there are drivers getting caught fixin so losing more business by running elogs over paper. Short term over long term.

    I will say I definitely felt more pressure and stress under elogs than paper. Might have been in my head, but it was real, nevertheless.

    I agree elogs are not about safety. They are about control.

    What precisely do they control a paper log doesn't?


    The argument that they are not safer. Well in and of themselves no probably not. Hiwever I do believe the HOS are designed for safety, and the EOBR's make enforcing those regulations easier. If your statement implies they are to ensure compliance with the HOS, and by that control the industry then I guess you would be correct.

    Last year prior to the whole company going onto ELOGS we had a "Control Group of drivers that broke down into 3 basic categories

    1.50 people ramdomly picked of all experiance levels put right onto ELOGS
    2.10 (5 senior) picked to have all paper logs scutinized 100%(not scanned)
    3.The rest of us on paper,business as usual(you know ,making things happen everyday LOL)

    My Best friend here was in group 2(he is a Million miler with company like me),,,he stated on numerous occasions that this was like being under a microscope,everyone of his trip paks went right to safety and entered manually into system,everytime there was an error he was notified,me on the other hand,well like i said "BizNazz as usual" I log how ever i deemed fit to make things happen,,,point of the story is,if paper was scrutinized like ELOGS(which u virtually cant make a mistake) then most people would choose the latter,he actually commented to me when he got his ELOG installed that after the initial week or so with fumbling with it he was really relaxed now compared to the 100% audit(btw that audit lasted almost 6 months)

    When I first went on them I felt the same way as you did,trying not to make a mistake more than anything else,now its not a big deal really,I still do what i do everyweek,,,

    Most drivers I see complaining(not you btw) seem to not have a actual experiance with them,,, i guess i might have been the same way last year(u kno,,fear of the unknown) all I know is ,,it has gotten me out of more BS loads than got me into them
