Do you know for sure that your HBP is stress related?
    Trucking does not reduce HBP.
    Sleep deprivation WILL raise it.
Also if you have another risk factor like diabetes or sleep apnea it would be difficult to pass a DOT Physical.
Not trying to stifle your dream.
Just hoping you go into to this with your eyes open.
I drove for 19 years. Driving for me was in itself not stressful.
As a matter of fact most of the time it was therapeutic.
    Good luck

If you have no family to worry about, running produce to the east coast from the west coast was pretty stress free.

Stress free? No, but it is relieving once you've found a place to park and can crawl into the safe space known as the sleeper at the end of the driving shift, eat something, and go to bed.

If you have HBP due to stress in your current job, then NO. So much of trucking is out of your control. If you are a control freak you'll blow a gasket in your first traffic jam.

Also if you're one of those doctors or lawyers who wants to "chuck this profession and follow my lifelong dream of being a trucker", then you have an additional stressor: as a doctor or lawyer you are used to people listening to what you have to say. As a trucker, no one CARES what you have to say, even though most truckers are NOT shy about saying it anyway.

I am a laid back driver. There is alot of stress out there. If you already have HBP I would say dont even try.
According to some poll on jobs I saw recently. Police persons was ranked #12 (least likely) and trucking was ranked higher at #8 for more danger and stress. Sorry I didnt bother to see what was worse after.

I must of missed where you said what your current job was.. or what you stress is from..

For me Trucking was not my most stressful job... and a lot of my day was just me rolling down the road... beautiful scenery, good music... yes, there were times when it was stressful... but, it didn't last long.. unless I didn't deal with well.. then before you know it, your rolling down the road checking out the beautiful scenery and listening to music again..

Truck driving does not make the top 10 list of most stressful jobs.. in fact it isn't even in the top 30...

So depending on what your current career is.. it may very well be less stressful...
