It's a good thing you had to stop, you're so tired you posted "you ran out of hours 1.5 hours from my house which was on the way home"

Always allowed a safe haven. It will ahow an HOS Volition on your logs for 8 days, be sure to send a message to safety explaining what caused this to happen and all should be fine. It happens, I always leave live traffic up on my phone..

Miles and miles of traffic mostly trucks.Nothing you can do in situations like this but call company right away and tell them what's going on.I've been in a mess like that.I get out my truck stop quide and truckers atlas and see where the nearest trk parking is at.

16 hour rule is only for drivers who return to the same location every night. (Local, home-nightly regional, etc). The correct rule to use is the 13 hour rule for adverse conditions.

Well what do you do if the nearest parking/truck stop isn't anywhere around? what do you do then if stuck in traffic like that? but you're crawling along?

My attitude doesn't change although define 'anywhere around'.

I've gone over as much as 90 minutes to find a safe place to park. Parking on the shoulder is dangerous and I can't sleep with traffic zipping by a few feet from my head. I won't park on a ramp either.

Again, any company that gives you grief - assuming it's not a chronic problem - isn't worth working for imo.
