that is a beautiful truck, but not a 359 Classic . that is a title given to the last 359 model 359's that were built.
"The title of 'Classic' is used to designate a rare numbered truck-same as a 379 Legacy. The Classics all had long hoods, and badges to denote their special place, Air Leaf suspension, and polished air tanks." - taken from another website.

the one in the pic appears to be a pre 1100 cab (77 or older). good old truck. also it seems to have a (somewhat) rare set of factory single round headligts. they were more commonly ordered in the late 60's and early 70's and quite rarely in the 80's.

The 359 Classic was the last run of 359's ever built and was produced in the 1987 model year...Peterbilt made 359 of these trucks with numbered I.D. plates

The 359 was introduced 1967 it was the first long-nosed conventional Peterbilt. From 1967 till 1972 the 359 had the small windowed older style cab.
The first 359 ever built was spec'd as a wrecker and sold to Coast Counties Peterbilt in San Jose, CA., The guy that spec'd it was named Ernie (I knew Ernie and he was a very cool old guy) and he also operated the wrecker for Coast counties for many years.
In 1973, the newer style cab with bulkhead doors was introduced and in 1977 the "Corvette" dash was introduced.

So the last of the 359's were built in 1986, BUT the Classic 359 was built in 1987 and only 359 of them. Thanks for the 411. Question, what was the difference between the the two ?

There was not much difference Dave...The Classics were all long hoods, 425 Cats, and had the numbered ID plates...There were some other minor differences but those are the main ones as far as I know.

I'm not a Peterbilt afficianado but my friend Jim is and had one of the Classics for quite a few years and I ran some trips for him in it every now and then.

That's not totally true. 1987 was the last year of the 359. They made 359 numbered classic 359s (now worth alot of money). They also made alot of standard 359s.

One night driving out of tx into la on the back roads I hit a pig. Called authorities told them.I did not tell them who I was or who I drove for. They asked me if it was a wild pig or a farm pig. I didn't know the difference he said if it was wild no big deal if it was a farm pig it would cost me $2,000 in restitution. No evidence on my truck I told him it was definitely was a wild pig hung up and high tailed it. 3 hrs later on I 20 in la I get pulled in and questioned. About the pig and charged $3000 for a dead pig and leaving the scene. The kicker is I don't know how la knew it was me or how they can charge me for something that I allegedly did in tx. In court I learns that the pig squealed on me.
