Yard Dogs: What is the metal thing that hangs in the front?

I guess my question is WHY did you take him lunches? Why didn't he take his OWN lunch when he went to work? And I hope he paid for all your flat repairs.

The thing I don't understand about the magnets on the yard dogs, is how so many people can be around them, and still have a loose screw that they won't pick up. . .

 

Have to admit I didn't know this. How often we see something that SHOULD catch our attention and interest, and just blow it off. A mechanic walks by a truck and instinctively looks for nails. A driver walks up to a truck and has already taken inventory of the driving obstacles observed around it.

Like we wear different-viewing glasses.

 

I'm not really sure what you were talking about, I'll have to find a picture, but now that you mention it, I think I've seen that. When I hauled RR cans, these yards were strewn with nails and bolts. These places would put a bolt through the seal hole and bend it, and when you checked one out, they'd cut the bolt, and these schmucks would throw the bolt on the ground. I was always careful and went real slow and watched for those bolts, but one day, I stop and hear this hissing,sure enough, I ran over one in my steer tire. Man, was I upset. I went up to the guy and read him the riot act about throwing bolts on the ground, I said, "you idiot, this is gonna cost me several hundred dollars". He didn't care though. After that, I had thought of making something like that, that was mounted behind the bumper, and before I would get to a yard, I'd drop it down on a chain or something. I quit that garbage soon after that so it didn't matter.

 

oh....that thinggy, and here we were thinking of the other....my how times have changed.....lmao....or maybe they haven't if we talking about low hanging things to the ground i think it wins...its missing the belt buckly (or grave stone above it)....well for most anyways...

Thanks dfo. It looks like it isn't wide enough to prevent the yard horse from picking up a bolt, but must be just a general picker-upper. I was going to have 1 on each side in front of the steer tires. At least someone cares. I can guarantee this isn't at a RR facility. They couldn't care less. I got the idea from my ex-brother in law, that did a lot of roofing, and customers were complaining of flat tires after a roof job, so he rigged up a long magnet on little wheels that he'd push around after the job was done. Now I see Menard's sells a similar item.
