From what date did you count your experience? School, training, solo date, pay stubs? Just generally curious.

2467C536-FDA6-4FF0-91AC-78F67F97B68B.jpeg The day I was strong enough to climb in my Dad’s K100 and tall enough to reach the pedals! Lol! We were free labor for my Pop when we were young. The only school I ever went to was the one where the instructor had free reign to hand out whoopin’s!

Seriously though. When I went out by myself for the first time is when I started my experience. 1988.

If you went through a typical mega regime of school, get CDL, go out with trainer, go solo, to the best of my knowledge, it is the date you got your CDL and were officially hired onto your trucking company. I usually think of mine as the day I started solo.
While I am not positive about this, one of the guys who went to the same class as me has used the date he got his CDL when hiring on with a different company.

Some companies want 'X' amount of experience "without a trainer."

I figure it from the first day I got paid to drive. My trainer was worthless anyway. Worse than worthless, in fact. A fountain of misinformation. But if someone wants to know time without a trainer, I simply subtract the two weeks I was with his garbagey ###.

Depends on who is asking and why! Experience is just, that, experience. Let's not confuse experience with the contract beginning point, not the same!

It depends on if you’re bonafide or not. If you’re are, you can start counting. If you’re not, you have to wait until you’re certified as being bonafide.
