Well, it can happen to anyone. Just involved in a accident. Not at fault. But IDK how this affects things. Nothing towed away

I worked in northern Alberta Canada for half a year. Learned the freight, the freight lanes and the customers. Then I bought a Canadian spec’d truck as they have different length laws and wheelbase allowance.

You are moving to B’ham. Hometime is priority. I would recommend against buying a truck before learning the local freight. If there’s decent freight paying decent money, bet on there being a local company with their trailers in the yard. Contrary to popular belief, there are more smaller carriers than megas, and they aren’t choked down by office beancounters.

30 years ago, Birmingham was a steel town. Steel town means buy a flatbed. Today, I don’t know.

"And you shall not walk, but rather run - no - sprint toward that ODFL job, with hazmat and doubles endorsements - and pray to your applicable gods that you get hired on. After many years of safe driving, you will look back at this moment and smile . . ."

When are you moving to Birmingham?

If you have pneumatic tanker experience or flatbed experience, I'll give you a lead that will have you home daily or home every couple of days or so. I think they have dry van, but that could be moreso along the kines of OTR. I have a friend that works at Standard Logistics. I cant remember if the terminal is in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham. They have terminals in various places. He pulls pneumatic tanker and flatbed for them and he's home daily. I think they're moving to a model where drivers are out 2 or 3 days at a time. If you're interested, PM me and I'll give you the info you need.

Also if you live in Birmingham or within 20 miles, XPO may look at you. My friend had a coworker that looked to work there. They wouldn’t hire him because he lives in Tuscaloosa. If you can explore getting endorsements, that may work for you.
