Trim axle and a cab over. Europe. And they open his doors for him.

A company sends 48 by 96 rail trailers to pick up beef hindquarters at the plant I drive from, the receiver owns the trailers.

I have pulled a few loads, there is some fore and after movement, and the trailers are top heavy.

    Bud A. Thanks this.

Why does everyone insist on trailers 10 years or newer?

Because they don’t want equipment that breaks down frequently or looks beat up especially if it’s around 10 years old.

My first girlfriend's daddy was a trucker. In my mind, I can still hear him talking about how much he hated hauling swingin' out of the packing houses in Sioux City back in the late '70s when I was dating her. He hauled it a lot, but he hated it. He drove a cabover truck, too, so it probably really rocked the driver around.

IBP (now owned by Tyson) killed swinging with boxed beef; others followed with boxed pork. It put a lot of local butchers into new jobs. I've heard that certain hipsters are opening butcher shops in big cities because, you know, that's what hipsters do. Stuff like that. Who knows where the hipster butchers are getting their sides of beef these days, though? Local?

Temperature control is easier with swinging, packaged and bulk shipments (some call those totes, others call them combos) have to be cold before shipment or risk spoiling the product.

We run 24 degrees cycle sentry for boxed and combos, the swinging is to be set at 35 degrees per instructions from the receiver.

The trailers are loaded at a separate dock called the lugger's dock.

I saw a regular at a Hunt's point processor pulling swinging, and there are still transfer rails in quite a few of the places no longer being used.
