I was in a similar position. All the mega carriers weren't interested in me. I didnt have any accidents though. So I applied for a local position with an LTL carrier and got hired on without any prior OTR experience. Congrats and good luck. I'd also like to welcome you to join us under the LTL folder so you can share your experience as a local driver.

Yep I got lucky too. Had my cdl with just under a year OTR. But at the time was working maintenance in a machine shop which included having scrap metal hauled away. One day calling for a pick up I asked if they needed a driver and so happened that week they did. I drove for them over two years and it was good. Got experience in roll offs and luggers. Back OTR now though and loving it.

I will definitely check that forum out, thanks for the invite.

I have to thank all the OTR fellas/Ladies for all of the advice.....Chinatown in particular......This forum is soooooooo much help for a new guy. Without all you "mean ### truckers" us noobs would be lost. Thank you for taking the time to educate and inform us of the ins and outs.....I promise to reciprocate it on the road! Stay safe and Happy Holidays !

There is a lot of really valuable information here. Also, if you have any questions, as long as you post them in the right area, more often than not, you will get very helpful responses. Who knows, maybe a year from now people will look at your for advice. Which is also why you should share your experience on here. Even if people don't respond, readers can still draw out valuable information from what you write. That is actually what helped me get my start.
