Forgot to mention, if you are using the commercial vehicle in personal conveyance capacity, ie. making a run to the store, you can carry alcohol in the vehicle as well.

Bold statement. Now can you back that up with a regulation? Do you know what regulation it is that gives DOT the authority to inspect a commercial vehicle?

What about the legion of truckers who parked on private property up at the Yakima Gearjammer, went in to the bar and got soused up then the police came and arrested them for DUI even though their vehicles were parked and on private property?

I was told by an officer, the only legal way to have alcohol in the truck or trailer was to have a bol with it.
    He didn't mention personal conveyance.

I would never haul alcohol in my truck.
You find something you want. USPS does a pretty good job.
    Good luck.

Question 3: Does the prohibition against carrying alcoholic beverages in §392.5 apply to a driver who uses a company vehicle, for personal reasons, while off-duty?

Guidance: No. For example, an owner-operator using his/her own vehicle in an off-duty status, or a driver using a company truck or tractor for transportation to a motel, restaurant, or home, would normally be outside the scope of this section.

    Thanks for the clarification.
I would still use the postal service. Or my personal car.
No mistakes or forgetting containers in the CMV.
