I cracked the vent in sleeper and asked if I could do the inspection at the next weigh station, they asked how long and were waiting when I got there. Lucky I asked because they said yes and it was a very complete inspection, feeling I was lucky they found nothing wrong because they sure looked.

There is no implied consent to search the inside of your tractor. I just went threw this with a CHP on 14NB at Baccus Rd mojave, CA. His argument was if you have nothing to hide you should not mind. Mine is the constitution guarantees me freedom from search and seizure without probable cause. I was on the phone to CHP Mojave, The Sargent came down immediately, I was released without a ticket, Don't know if the 3 gopros helped or not, they were not on.

They were nice about it that day, when I asked them what would of happened if I didn't do that, they said they were looking to write tickets on those who jumped into the drivers seat and did not log on duty.

i was pulled over by a Blond Witch 58 west at General Beal Road, she wrote me for 75 in a 55 after refusing her access to my cab, she stood by the passenger door yelling and demanding i open the door, while i was recording the whole thing, The judge dismissed the ticket upon watching the video which showed me under 60 from tehachapi, and admonished her not to pull me over again, this was the 3rd ticket from her, he repealed the 2 previous tickets. She is the reason I now run GoPros that loop, one on each mirror and one center dash forward.

That's sad... And entrapment. When some noise wakes me, it takes a few minutes to clear my head. By then I'd probably have an undeserved ticket.

How long ago was this? The regs were changed in 2012 to allow sitting in the driver's seat Off Duty in a Parked commercial vehicle. 395.2(4)(i)

Also to answer the OP, we have a moderator(?) who was thoroughly inspected at the Canadian border, he wrote a whole thread about it, the Mounties tossed everything in his truck out in the rain and when they did not find anything, he (the driver) was instructed to pick it all up himself.

As far as DOT officer entering your cab with or without consent, they can if you have a Sleeper. The sleeper is defined and spec'd out in size in the regulations, any officer can get inside your cab to confirm the size of the sleeper meets regulations. That's their "in". Now if they see or smell or hear something illegal during their measurements, they will document and cite for the violation.

You could probably film them doing all that but if you run your mouth too much, what I would do is put the driver in handcuffs for everyone's safety til the inspection is completed.
