you are one of God's own prototypes rank, all these darn whipper snappers should just listen to you. Clearly you and your posse have all the answers for anything Truck or life related.
Hell you know more about people's lives then they do! who am I to argue with that?
Clearly you came right out of the womb with all the experience needed to be a successful business man.
Now if only we could get you to stop calling people elementary school names and actually provide something of substance...
The irony is not lost on the fact you call yourself a businessman but advocate the very fraud that is part of the reason Trucking is so bad and chocked full of deadbeats.
You want to be an owner operator?! THE TRUTH!

No Im NOT leasing from company. What I want to do is buy my own truck with money that I've saved up and lease onto company I drive for as company driver right now. I don't want to be "lease purchase" driver as much as some people think that it's a great idea.

Or the so called experienced "experts" who think they know it all..... For example... "I've backed up more miles than you've gone forward!!!" type...Ruthless Thanks this.

Eh, not wrong. Yes a fella can go home, but it will affect profit.Last edited: Dec 29, 2015

After you've done it a few years you can find your sweet spot for income and taxes. I can run about 110k miles, and if fuel cost, maintenance, etc stay in the same ball park my quarterly payments cover my tax bill. If you go balls to the wall 52 weeks a year you better be prepared to pay your taxes the following year. I figure all in I was off 11 weeks last year, not counting weekends.
Al. Roper and truckthatpassesyouby Thank this. -
Paying taxes can be avoided if you get incorporated and buy a new truck every 5 years but it's expensive. I think a person is better off getting a decent used truck and putting a little back each week. It's hit or miss. I think I made more money as an owner op getting home nearly every day because the outbound freight was the big money. The backhauls paid a lot less. There was better paying back loads but spending all day getting unloaded wasn't my cup of tea. I could get a cheap load of brick and be unloaded in 30 min. Then haul a couple local loads for 3 or 4 hundred. I made lots of money as an owner operator and had fun doing it. I'm a company driver now with a steady 500 mile turn. Home everyday with weekends off. Great benefits at $.6125 cents a mile and several other perks. Think I still made more money as an owner op with more time off but it sure is much easier now and the time off is always paid

Let's talk about how to beat the IRS.

I've found my annual maintenance costs and tax bill are considerably lower than a new truck payment for a year.ramblingman and Al. Roper Thank this.

New truck payment approx. $2400.00 per month on a 60 mo term with 10% down....low apr
Yeah, Im around $1300.00 per month in maintenance and taxes.......Many variables to consider though -
If you don't mind me asking, after maintenance and fuel, about how much do you make a year? Ballpark.. -
Did you buy a new truck because you do OTR or did you buy it new because you want to pay it off and then earn without a truck payment?
