And for every success story there's 99 drivers who died broke and left their kids nothing but problems, but good for the ones that made it. If it was 1980 and I could drive 5000 miles a week and still make today's wages you'd bet your ### I could pull that off too, sounds pre frickin easy

TDCJ...it's definitely not for everyone, but the schedule, pay and benefits fit my needs very well.

You realize that the market dictates pay, right? And it’s ridiculously easy to get a CDL, and that dictates pay. There are too many trucks and too few loads. Anyone that raises their rates to increase driver pay will simply be underbid and lose out on work, and their drivers will make zero. There is only so much fruit on the tree. Many people came into this industry during Covid and have never seen a downturn before. I was a company driver back in 2008 running regional in the northwest. For months it was common to sit for a day out on the road during the week because there was simply nothing to haul.

There are plenty of jobs that pay what you’d like to see for wages but the fact is you’re a new driver with less than a year experience. You should’ve stuck it out for a couple more months at Schneider and you’d have a lot more opportunities than you do now. Pilot is advertising for fuel haulers and they only require one year of driving experience. They’re paying high $20’s an hour with time and a half over 40.

If you get on m3th and don't run an ELD you can make some real dough. You could run 5 days without sleep or food, p00p through a hole in the floor. But.......is it a good long term strategy?
