    It's 11:50, you have 4 open dock doors. Just assign me my door and let me go do my thing. What's going to change in the next 10 minutes?

    Now instead of having trucks back in one by one, we'll have 3 guys heading to the dock at the same time, and I know at least one of them is going to struggle with the partially melted ice.

    Shippers do a lot of inane things ... I stopped worrying about it a long time ago. I will get loaded/unloaded eventually and there will be another load waiting when I'm finished.

    They do that BS so you’re technically late when you finally get to the office and they don’t have to pay you detention.

    Take a picture of yourself standing at the window with the clock in the background, or if you're at the speaker or guardshack. Your phone will show the time and date of the pic.

    That's why its a good thing to work for a company that pays detention based on arrive call. That is if one is a company driver.

    Good Idea - Time stamp everything - even though a broker will promise you the World until you drop off the load then never answer your call again!

    Been there more than once. There probably can be a number of reasons why it may happen, I've often though it could be due to various reasons ranging from control freak, or too stupid to know how to manage the inbound traffic efficiently, to strict management instructions and the guard just wanting to keep his job.
