Drivers get paid by miles, like $0.40/mile. How do owner operators get paid? Like $1.00/mile or more?

    Hopefully more.
It’s going to cost around .70-.90/ mile if you own truck trailer and have own authority, depending on how much insurance.
I personally won’t waste my time on anything below $2.05-2.10 depending if it goes home or not.
Most of the things I haul pay by tonnage or hundred weight.
    Was offered a 1.87 load earlier going 370 miles, I wasn’t interested.

I’ve since got a reload scheduled when I drop this in the morning going 368 miles paying $40/ton to the truck and it takes me through the house tomorrow evening and unloads Monday 175 miles, so I can just leave early Monday morning.
I can haul right at 26 ton, so be around $1040/368=2.83/mile.
But you best have good trailer and tarp with no leaks or you’ll spend 4 hours unloading.
My trailer is not a year old yet and I haven’t beat it with a hammer so it slides out in 30-45 minutes.

    Depends.
    Sometimes they open the doors.
    Sometimes you do.
Where I’m going you open the back hopper and drive forward slowly til empty, the take a bobcat and shove product in a stall, back up open front hopper drive forward, when it’s empty your done.

This load took almost four hours, had no help, and a industrial vibrator hooked to trailer.

Total revenue, minus expenses = profit, before taxes.

After taxes are paid on the profit, that’s your pay.
