I was just reading thru it. I made insulated window curtains out of the rolled reflective insulation at Lowe's. It's an R2 or R3 and I velcro them right to the windshield. I have my sleeper curtains bungied back and honestly never use them. In Phoenix the other night I was up every 90 min or so recycling the opti-idle because it would be in the 80's in the sleeper. Same when I was in Flagstaff when I woke up so soaked in sweat that I had to change sheets. But last night in Grand Junction, it worked like it should and I didn't change any of the settings, it just decided to work again. The one thing I wish this '19 truck had is upper bunk vents. In the sleeper, mine only has the one's right next to the controller in the bottom bunk and out the front of the sleeper HVAC cabinet. It's amazing how fast that hot upper bunk heats things up after the bottom bunk cools down and the system shuts off.

Do your cab A/C controls match mine? I am in a 2021. The cab is all of your real cooling, it's got to be maxed out, and recirculating air in crazy hot places like Phoenix.

I just finished a daytime 10 hour break in Meridian, and my opti idle worked perfectly all the break, set up with the cab controls to max cold and curtains open.

You might have an actual truck AC issue if your truck cab AC won't cool cab and sleeper enough to make opti-idle work.

Yep, everything is maxxed. And during the day, when it's on 'continuous interior comfort' it will put ice cycles on your nose(as long as I have the window curtains in place). My issue is the fact that it only restarts when it wants to. When it first started acting up, it actually was cooling, hit it's set temp, shut down, then 10 sec later, restarted in comfort mode-heat and started pumping out hot air. It would shut down if you rolled the dial into the blue, would restart if you rolled it into the red, I had to shut the truck off to get it back to normal...if it continues, it will be the next driver's problem because I am sick of either getting 90 min naps or wedging the throttle so it runs all night. I cannot keep fighting this crap the rest of the summer, and so far, it hasn't acted up while it's at the shop, so they keep believing it's driver error.

Ouch, yes, that sounds like something beyond the design fault I mentioned.

I can’t believe you have put up with this bs this long. Hotels are not always an option and if you can’t rest comfortably then move on if they won’t replace or repair.

A quick question for you. Does your truck Opti-Idle at 600 or 900 RPM?

If your truck Opti Idles at 600 RPM, have a shop check to see if you have a new or old model AC compressor. Apparently Freightliner recently changed compressor models. The old ones worked properly at 600 RPM, the new ones do not.

It doesn't sound like that is your issue, but might be worth checking out if your truck Opri-idles at 600 RPM.

Well, either they have met their recruiting goal for the month, or they gave up. I haven't had a 'recruit more drivers' Peoplenet message in a while. And I think the Drivewyze magic is working, I think...I have hit 2 scales so far...both closed, including the WY P.O.E. south of Cheyenne. Although I wish it would stick with the 'night mode' intensity I use in the dark, 2 miles before the scale a flash of light right before the scale ahead warning (twice), then another flash when you get the bypass for a closed scale....and how do we turn off the 'rollover advisory' that pops up well before a sharp ramp...even for ramps you're not gonna take.

And my A/M ruined my weekend. He's leaving this afternoon and won't be back until Monday. So I guess it's a poke-the-bear temperfest weekend.
