Two more you might also wanna check out:

    a) AMX (Albama Motor Express): main offices in Ashford, AL.
Alabama Motor Express - AMX (amxtrucking.com)

    b) Robert Bearden, Inc: main HQ in Cairo, GA.
    Robert Bearden Inc. (rbitrucking.com)

The drivers with these that I have spoken with seemed happy. I would probably otherwise be running with either of these two myself, but neither of them does that hazmat tanker thing....:)

Lol. And people wonder why there is a "driver shortage". So you took 2 years off but you drove for 11 years prior. And now this mid sized company wants you to go out with a trainer for 3-4 weeks instead of being sensible and just giving you a road test first to see how you do?

I realize it's probably not management at Danny Herman making that decision, and that it's probably the insurance companies. But that's a load of crap. And you're not even going to be driving in a manual, you'll be in an automatic. For God's sake, you don't need to go out with a trainer for 3-4 weeks. That's just dumb.

Again I realize it's probably the insurance company making that decision. But it's dumb crap like that as to what helps with such large turnover in this industry.

I think you are 100% reasonable in taking your time and vetting the company, wanting to see the truck you'll be living in. This is a big investment.

Danny Herman seems like a great company but what turned me off from them was a YouTube video of a positive/upbeat driver who said he got a dirty truck and then a different YouTube video where the truck was pretty filthy as well. This is the video I'm talking about.

If I were you I'de go with a company that didn't require training. There are companies that don't require you to go out with a trainer again if you've been off the road for years or even a decade. Maybe go with that kind of company to get your foot in the door and then go with a better company 6 months later. Of course if you can handle living with a stranger in a small truck for a month then maybe it won't be a big deal.

I think their pay is kind of on the lower side too at $0.50 CPM starting out, although they have great lanes and it seems from drivers on here that it's a lot of drop and hooks at their terminals, which makes the job super easy when you're running high mile runs like Dockbumper seems to be doing.

Thank you very much @BeHereNow97 ! :) That video is the best one I have watched showing inside of their truck..
When I visited their Lebanon yard, the terminal manager let me go inside of a truck but it had someone's things in there and I couldn't touch anything or see the cabinets or under the bunk....
I really appreciated your comment. You are 100% right... the 150 hrs training is most likely due to their insurance... but not all companies have that same requirement.
What I like about DHT are their lanes, no northeast, the APU, no emergency braking system that applies brakes by itself in the trucks (so far) and the 7 days off after 3 months on the road.
All other companies that I researched lack in one, two or more of those items... And those items are very important to me.
The idea of teaming for more than one week seems almost impossible to me... I also don't like the idea of staying in a company for less than one year... So, will research some more, re-evaluate and change my "strategy" if necessary.

That truck is pretty filthy IMO... It would take me at least two days scrubbing everything inside from top to bottom..
I always did that to all trucks I lived in... except the brand new one that came straight from the dealer to my hands... And I always returned them in much cleaner condition than before, I mean "immaculate"... :)

Three months on the road with DHT earns you 18 days off. Not 7
