Hi my Volvo jerks when parked and turned off. It almost feels like I'm being rear ended. I don't know whether it's the truck or the trailer. What could be the problem?

When the air bags deflate, it can feel like that.

As stated above you have a air leak causing airbags to deflate .

When the airbags inflate and deflate, the axles rotate some. So when you're sitting there with the bags slowly deflating, your brakes are set, and they try to keep the axle from rotating. But once the bags hit a certain pressure, they aren't helping anymore, and the brakes can't do it all by themselves, so they slip and the axle rotates a little bit until the combination of brakes and airbag is enough to stop it from rotating anymore.

Rinse and repeat this process until the axles have moved as far as they are going to. If you want, you can release your brakes, dump your airbags, and reset your brakes. It will bypass the "lurching" process.

Not sure if Volvo's are like Macks since they're the same company, where the dump switch only works with the key on. On a Mack, if you turn the key off with the switch in the dump position, it closes the dump valve and the bags reinflate.

If you have an air-ride trailer, set your trailer brakes 1st, then let the trailer airbags settle before setting your truck brakes. If you don't have an air-ride trailer then the only thing to do is find the air leak and have it repaired.

LOL, why do manufacturers have to complicate things? I guess I need to realize not everyone is driving the same janky POS as me.
